18 Habits of Incredibly Successful Salespeople
I worked in the channel for just over 10 years of which 7 were in a sales leadership position. Some of the sales people were amazing, some were good, some OK and some, well, it was not for them. So what makes a good sales person? Below is a link to a 7 minute read of the 18 habits and as you will see, I also added my thoughts which will complement the list.
TREAT IT LIKE A PROFESSION
My personal opinion is that it starts from within. In the first instance, you need to want to be in sales and be proud of your profession, because it is a profession. It is a profession of fixing problems, and the more problems you solve, and the bigger the problems, the better and more successful you will be.
The days of “he can sell ice to an Eskimo” are dead. It is no longer enough to have the “gift of the gab”. You need a process and substance behind the confidence and bravado.
Your success is based around some solid foundations. Building strong networks and relationships, thinking through the eyes of your client and solving their problems, having a solid process and being TRUSTED. I could go on but my point is this, treat it like a true profession, like a lawyer or accountant would do. Thereafter, find a sales process and methodology that works for you and you will fly.
